Itajime Shibori
The process of folding fabric, and then clamping it between boards is the Itajime technique of Shibori dyeing. The fabric is folded into vertical pleats of squares, rectangles and triangles and placed between two shapes of wood board or metal and clamped. The shapes of the wood or metal determine the resulting pattern onto the dyed fabric. Check out some of my new creations!!!
I am a freelance textile designer and wardrobe stylist living in Philadelphia. After graduating from Moore College of Art and Design I began working as a designer for Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. Currently, I work in film and video production as a wardrobe stylist. I have worked on independent films, tv shows and commercials. In this blog are my inspirational photos along with a collection of my textile designs and other artwork.
