After two snow storms back to back we have ended up with about three feet of snow here in Philadelphia. When I awoke yesterday morning to a bright sunny blue sky blanketed in a white wonderland I was so inspired by the beauty of nature. Here are some photos I took on a walk through the park and up to the art museum.
Kantha is a type of embroidery popular in Bangladesh and in West Bengal, India. The Sanskrit word kontha means 'rags.' The use of kantha is popular in saris traditionally worn by women in Bengal. Originally it was used to join layers of old saris, to make quilts. It was also used as a means of self expression by both urban and rural women in Bengal.
